A new bus company through the Fraser Canyon will begin service in just over two weeks.
The new routes by Adventure Charters and Rentals, from Prince George to Surrey, and from Williams Lake to Kamloops will restore bus service through the Fraser Canyon nearly a year after Greyhound pulled out.
Owner Janna Gertzen says buses will run twice a week, with the first buses on May 2.
“Two buses northbound and two buses southbound, they are going to travel south on Monday and Thursday and north on Tuesday and Friday,” she said.
“Williams Lake to Kamloops will be Monday’s and Thursday’s and that will be a round trip on those days.”
Gertzen says the hope is to see Kamloops to Prince George travellers connect in Williams Lake.
“So in Williams Lake, for the bus coming out of Surrey, there is a little bit of a delay on that one, but on the southbound route, it lines up perfectly,” she added.
“We also are trying to mesh with the Ebus schedule within Kamloops, so people can transfer even beyond into Kelowna in the Okanagan area.”
Tickets from Kamloops to Williams Lake will cost $65 one way, from Kamloops to Prince George will be $90, while from Prince George to Surrey it is $110.
