Fire crews are making good progress at a wildfire, about 35 kilometres east of Merritt.
The fire is being held at 80 hectares right now, near Minnie Lake Road, south west of Douglas Lake.
Fire Information Officer Hannah Swift says they don’t have an official cause, but it is believed to be a human caused fire.
“We do have nine BC Wildfire Service staff on there right now, and they are working with the Douglas Lake Fire Department to get it under control,” she said. “They are making really good progress.”
The fire was discovered yesterday afternoon.
Swift says there is another fire burning 6 hectares about 10 km north of Princeton, in the area of Hembrie Mountain.
There are no crews out there at the moment, and that fire isn’t expected to grow.
Swift adds it is also believed to be a human caused fire.
