Get on a plane to Edmonton.
That is the advice from the Leader of the Opposition to Premier John Horgan now that the United Conservative Party has swept to power in Alberta.
Andrew Wilkinson says John Horgan must go to Alberta and meet with Premier designate Jason Kenney to solve problems rather than create fights.
Kenney has promised to pass legislation empowering his government to turn off western oil pipelines to poke B.C. in the eye for opposing the Trans Mountain pipeline.
“Canada is one country. Provinces working together lead to way better results for all of us than provinces kicking each other in the shins,” said Wilkinson.
“Unfortunately, John Horgan has created the situation by blocking Alberta’s exports saying they’d rather pick a fight that lead to good results for both provinces.”
Wilkinson says B.C. and Alberta are joined at the hip with a huge amount of people and goods flowing back and forth.
He adds erecting barriers between the provinces is a bad idea.
