The man behind the new Performing Arts Centre project in Kamloops thinks a revitalized Paramount Theatre will complement the new facility.
Ron Fawcett says they have been getting a number of people interested in space at the Performing Arts Centre.
“I know the Film Society is also supportive of that idea,” he said. “There will be some intermingling of the space, and it sort of alleviates the other building because as we’ve listed all the needs from the different community groups, we’re short of space over there.”
“So this is going to help that problem.”
Fawcett adds he’s glad to see the Kamloops Film Society take over operations of Paramount Theatre to give the building new life.
He believes having facilities like the Sagebrush Theatre, Paramount Theatre, Sandman Centre and the Rex theatre downtown will go a long way.
“I really think our opportunity to grow the arts and the Performing Arts in this community, there’s certainly a demand for it,” Fawcett added.
Kamloops city staff are currently working on the finite details of the Performing Arts Centre proposal.
