Parking issues because of construction on Victoria Street West will be temporary.
Numerous BCLC employees have been moved to city parking lots at Riverside Park as the construction got underway last week.
Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell understands the concerns of many park users, but says the move was done for a reason.
“To get more vehicles out of the construction traffic, it was looked at as better for the overall population and for the project to accommodate them,” he said on the NL Morning News.
“But we have some wrinkles that we’re working on it.”
The move has numerous Riverside Park users upset, but Crundwell adds parking at Heritage House isn’t affected, noting they’ll be working with various groups to address parking concerns.
“We’re hoping it’s not going to be too much of an issue for people moving forward,” he said. “It is just short term.”
“By mid-July, it’ll be back to normal. We were trying to do it for the corridor and to get everybody through quicker.”
He believes the issues will resolve itself over the next few weeks as people get used to the temporary parking changes in the downtown core.
