The most grounded $10-million lottery winner ever.
That is how BC’s newest millionaire Vivienne Mills was described today as she picked up her $10-million cheque from the BCLC headquarters in Kamloops.
Mills, who is from Tumbler Ridge, says she plans on sharing the wealth with her two children and four grandchildren.
“Their dad called them and they didn’t believe their dad. They wanted to talk to mum,” she said. “Mum verified that this was real.”
“The grand kids phoned us the next morning and said, ‘Nanny, is this real?’ I said, ‘yup, this is real.'”
Mills recalled how she got an email notification saying she had won a prize, and she thought she had won a free ticket.
“Then I saw a lot of zeroes and thought I was seeing things, so I woke up my husband and asked him to look,” Mills added, saying both she and her husband are still shocked. “I always say that if I win, I win, and if I don’t, I don’t.”
“We’ll never do anything rash. I think we’ve been given good advice. You can tell just by looking at me I’m still like okay. We have to get grounded.”
Mills says she has plans to also wants to buy a small car so that it’s easier to get into parking spots.
She also wants to donate some money to various charities in the Tumbler Ridge area.
Mills matched all six numbers on her Lotto 6/49 ticket for the April 3 draw.
