Residents in Logan Lake are once again floating plans for a community pool.
Maurine Konowalchuk was one of two residents at council earlier this month to bring information forward.
She says district council is on board, but she says a deeper dive is needed into specifics.
“We’re just kind of looking at what is feasible for our community. Do we look at bio energy? Wind power, solar power, thermal power? There’s just a lot of different factors that we’re really just trying to gather all the information. So we just wanted the district to know that we are moving forward with this really important aspect of community living,” Konowalchuk says.
“A lot of our residents do leave our community… for swimming lessons, for leisure. But while they’re gone to these other communities, they’re buying their groceries, they’re going out for food. They’re taking our local economy money and spending it in other communities.”
Konowalchuk says the district has committed to donating land once any plan for a pool is realized, but she says it can’t put costs for a pool solely on taxpayers and says grants or sponsorship would be needed.
