A half-year renovation worth more than $9 million dollars to Hotel 540 property in Kamloops is almost finished.
General manager Bryan Pillbeam says a soft opening for the newly-branded Delta Hotel will happen tomorrow, with 75 guests from the Rocky Mountaineer staying on the fifth floor.
He says it will be a very different hotel for anyone who has been inside before.
“Just by the range of food of beverage offerings that we have, lobby bar, the wine library and the grab-and-go and new entrances. A very, very different hotel,” Pillbeam says.
“”We’re nearing the end, we’re not quite there yet… Certainly when you renovate a building of this age, you always run into some speed bumps and hiccups along the way, and we’ve had our share for sure. But we’ve had great partners who we’ve worked with and couldn’t be more proud of our team in the way they’ve endured not only the opening planning with Delta but working through the construction and the planning that’s there, and the reset of what this is.”
Pillbeam says a grand opening will happen on May 21 when all rooms are finished.
He says the hotel will have added nearly 20 per cent more staff than it had before renovations.
