Mounties in Kamloops are praising the actions of a child and bus driver after a suspicious incident in the Whispering Pines area.
Staff Sgt. Mattias Van Laer says at 7:15 a.m. this morning, a man in a black four-door car stopped next to a child waiting for a school bus on Westsyde Road and asked him to climb in.
He says the child returned home, and then told his bus driver when the bus arrived.
“The bus driver was actually quite diligent, and we’re very happy to report that as well. In the sense that he took the time to ask, at every further stop along the way, if any of the children or parents waiting there had seen anything unusual or noticed that vehicle’s description. And nobody had seen anything like it.”
Van Laer says the incident was isolated and don’t think it was targeted.
Mounties say the suspect driver was an older, clean-shaven, darker-skinned man, who was wearing a green toque and a black jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps RCMP detachment at 250-314-1800, or to call Crime Stoppers.
