Residents in Ashcroft are being asked to conserve water because of a power outage at the water treatment plant.
CAO Michelle Allen says a contractor building the new water treatment plant accidentally hit the power line to the pump.
“And right now we can’t pump water into our water system. Therefore we are asking everyone to go to a Stage 4 watering restriction which means only emergency use,” she told Radio NL.
“We ask that you don’t do laundry, don’t wash your car. Any extra use of water, we ask that you curtail it until further notice.”
Allen says repairs are underway at the moment, but she is not sure how long it will take.
