Kamloops RCMP say a 46-year-old city man has been arrested after a flagger was hit in a Valleyview construction zone today.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the collision happened at Valleyview Drive and Vicars Road around 9:50 this morning.
“A flagger had signalled for a car to stop and yield to oncoming traffic. The driver indicated that he saw the flagger and knew he was supposed to stop but continued on anyway, striking the flagger as she was standing on the roadway,” Shelkie said. “The suspect then continued on through the construction zone.”
The driver later turned himself into police at the RCMP detachment, and he was not previously known to them.
The flagger was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with minor injuries, and the BC Prosecution Service will determine any charges.
