There is a six hectare prescribed burn planned near Goose Lake, near Lac Le Jeune Road, about nine kilometres south of Kamloops.
Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius says the burn could begin as early as noon today, depending on weather, and other site conditions.
The Goose Lake burn will help assist with prescribed fire research, while also encouraging a regeneration in Douglas fir stands.
Lucuis says it will also promote ecosystem restoration.
BC Wildfire Service staff and the Tk’emlups Forestry Development Corporation will be doing the burn, and smoke may be visible in Kamloops and other nearby communities.
