The Whispering Pines/ Clinton Indian Band will be doing a study on building a recreation centre and RV Park.
Chief Mike Lebourdais says the band wants to a facility to complement the First Nation’s motocross track and rodeo grounds.
He says the RV Park would be for tourism and would support workers on the Trans-Mountain pipeline.
“We partnered with Urban Systems limited, they do a lot of our engineering here and they’re going to be doing the oversight on the pipeline. And so what they’re doing for us, they’re doing the site planning, site selection, a bunch of the artwork, environmental investigations, those kinds of things. And of course the engineering.”
The First Nation is armed with a $100,000-dollar grant from the province to do the study. Lebourdais says they will be spending about $50,000 dollars extra for the study.
