The mayor of Ashcroft says she’s hoping to talk to a new bus company in the area about servicing the village.
Adventure Charters and Rentals began running two new bus routes a week ago which both go through Cache Creek – to Kamloops and to through the Fraser Canyon.
Barbara Roden says she has spoke with the bus company in the past.
“They had indicated that they would be obviously establishing the initial pick-up points and drop-off points along their route, but they were open to making changes as things got underway and they saw how it rolled out.”
Roden says adding a bus stop in Ashcroft would only add about three miles in each direction, which she says would make a big difference to people who need the service.
“And I think that would be really encouraging for the community and it would be really helpful for a lot of people. It’s only six miles from Ashcroft to Cache Creek, but when you don’t have a car and you have no way of getting there that’s a very long six miles.”
