Mounties in Kamloops say they’ve recovered a large amount of stolen property from a home in Brocklehurst.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a house in the 2000 block of Parkcrest Avenue was searched, after the Crime Reduction Unit learned that stolen property was being stored in the house.
“A search warrant was obtained and in conjunction with the Targeted Enforcement Unit, and the warrant was executed at the house,” says Shelkie. “A plethora of builder tools, survey equipment and stolen mail was found inside, as well as some counterfeit American currency.”
There were two men in the house at the time, Shelkie says a 36-year-old man, who was known to police was arrested. The second man was released without charges.
“It is difficult to put a monetary value on the amount of stolen items recovered today,” added Shelkie.
Police will now begin matching serial numbers to the items that were reported stolen.
“The owners will have to be able to prove it is theirs with serial numbers or some kind of other identifiable markings,” she said.
The man who was arrested was released with a future court date, and the BC Prosecution Service will determine charges.
