A 21-year-old Kamloops man is facing a robbery charge after an incident last month.
On April 19 at 3:15 a.m., a man was walking near St. Paul Street and First Avenue, when he was robbed by two men at knife point.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the pair demanded the wallet and cellphone of the victim.
“And then within minutes of the robbery, a credit card that was inside of the victim’s wallet was used to withdraw $800 from an ATM,” she says. “Surveillance video of the ATM showed a suspect who was identified and then a few days later, on May 6, the suspect was arrested.”
Mikael Wayne Stewart, who is known to police, has been charged with robbery and using a stolen credit card.
He has a court appearance May 16, and Shelkie says the other suspect has not been identified.
At this time, police believe there is no indication that this suspect is related to any of the other robberies in Kamloops that occurred over the past few months.
