The City of Kamloops has renewed funding for the Customer Care and Patrol Team on the North Shore.
The CAP Team has been granted $25,000 dollars from the city, and North Shore Business Improvement Association executive director Jeremy Heighton says they are grateful for that support.
“When we actually originally proposed expanding the CAP Team, we had indicated to the city that we would be seeking two years of bridge funding, until our levy renewal occurred to allow the NSBIA to self-fund our CAP Team. So this is not unexpected, it’s very welcomed though, and we are excited to have the CAP Team back on the North Shore.”
Heighton says the CAP Team is made up of youth summer workers who do community work for tourism and community safety.
“They will provide some embassador roles for tourism and those types of things. They will also provide some street-level engagement opportunities. They’ll do some needle pick-ups, they’ll do some engagement with our street population. Basically they have sort of a generalist role, they form a wide variety of functions within our corridors.”
