The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is now mapped at six hectares, and it’s about 25 km east of downtown Kamloops.
Airtankers were at the scene earlier today, and helicopters are currently assisting firefighters on the ground.

A four hectare wildfire burning east of Kamloops is currently out of control.
The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is south of Hook Road, and it is expected to grow.
Wildfire crews and air tankers and on scene battling the blaze at this moment, as well as volunteer firefighters from the Pritchard Fire Department.
Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius says it’s a suspected human caused fire, but a specific cause is under investigation.
Lucius also said there are a few structures near the fire, but none are at risk at the moment.
Dallas Drive between Hook Road and Sonoma Road is closed, and it’s expected to be closed until midnight, according to Google Maps.
