Kamloops RCMP are investigating after solar panels were stolen from electronic message boards along the Trans Canada Highway.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the thefts occurred on two separate days, first on April 30, and then again on May 9.
“Solar panels were removed from four electronic message boards, one in the area of Greenstone Mountain Road in the Cherry Creek area,” she said. “These message boards are integral to public and traffic safety where construction crews are replacing bridges from last year’s flooding.”
Shelkie says the May 9 theft happened in broad daylight some time between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Police are asking people to come forward if they have any information or dash cam footage that could help identify suspects.
