The City of Merritt is undertaking six projects with a six-figure grant received from the province.
Economic development manager Will George says the $100,000 grant will be used to try and increase economic activity in the Nicola Valley.
That will include spending to attract events and festivals and spending to update the community’s profile for attracting investment.
“We wanted to do a mix of projects – similar to when we applied in 2016 with the rural dividend funds – so then we could divvy up the funds that we recieved and tackle multiple projects, to check off different projects that have been identified as top priorities within the City of Merritt’s economic development plan as well as the tourism plan.”
George says the city will also be putting up new welcome banners and new trailhead markers with that grant money.
