An expansion proposal by the Monte Creek Ranch Winery has received support from local government.
The winery east of Kamloops is seeking approval from the Liquor Distribution Branch to expand its capacity and hours of operation. If approved, the winery would be open 16 hours a day, compared to its current 13 hours, and would be able to host special events with up to 500 people, compared to its current capacity of 286.
At their meeting yesterday, TNRD board members unanimously voted to support the winery’s expansion application.
“Our board does have the power to make a recommendation and they for the province, they broker the process. So we’ve sent out notice, we’ve talked to the RCMP. We are recommending it because no issues have been raised and there’s been no complaints from that neighbourhood regarding the winery functions for serving and sales,” TNRD director of development services Regina Sadilkova says.
“I think this is a good sign and I hope that they are going to be developing the site a little further. I know they’ve been through some plans for an amphitheatre for music events. That is still in the works, but that has not been constructed yet.”
