A Merritt-area Member of Parliament says supporting responsible resource development will be a significant factor in his campaign this fall.
Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola MP Dan Albas says forestry and mining are among those industries, as well as the proposed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
He says if the pipeline goes ahead, Merritt would be able to do flood mitigation work with money from a community benefit agreement.
“It’s important to have someone standing up for the natural resource sector, that’s something that I do. Supporting local industries such as ranching. These are all things that Consrevatives stand up, and Andrew Scheer wants to support these sectors and let them know that we are going to be supporting them moving forward.”
Albas has been the riding’s MP since 2011 and will be the Conservative candidate in the October election.
