The Prime Minister was in Kamloops Tuesday mixing government business with party pleasure.
Before attending the nomination meeting for Terry Lake as party candidate the Prime Minister addressed provincial wildfire officials and First Nations leaders.
Justin Trudeau says the last two historic wildfire seasons taught us all lessons and underscored the importance of tackling climate change.
“This is something we unfortunately know that communities, families, first responders will have challenges ahead of them that are going to come more and more regularly. One of the impacts of the extreme weather events that are more frequent because of climate change means that we are going to have to be doing our very best to minimize the impacts and to maximize the help.”
Trudeau says the lessons learned, especially from the awful 2017 wildfire season, led to better outcomes last wildfire season with hopefully more successes this wildfire season.
The Prime Minister met with the Mayor Ken Christian, Provincial Public Safety minister Mike Farnworth, First Nations leaders, the Red Cross, and provincial wildfire officials at Kamloops City Hall.
