Days after the Federal Liberals nominated their candidate, the Federal NDP have announced their candidate who will challenge incumbent MP Cathy McLeod in this fall’s federal election.
Gina Myhill-Jones will be acclaimed this Sunday as the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo NDP candidate.
“Far too many people that have been left behind and ignored by the Conservatives and the Liberals,” she said in a release. “I think people in Kamloops, 100 Mile House, and the North Thompson are tired of hearing the same old rhetoric and empty promises from scandal-ridden politicians doing politics the same old way. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work with the people of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo.”
Nomination meetings will be held on in 100 Mile House, Clearwater and Kamloops, according to the riding’s NDP president Bill Sundhu.
“After an exhaustive search and consultations across the riding, it is clear that New Democrats are placing their trust in Gina to reclaim this riding for our party,” said Sundhu. “She is an active community leader and volunteer with a strong background of advocacy and commitment to helping others.”
Last month, Gina Myhill-Jones announced her intention to seek the federal nomination.
