Update Monday, June 3 – A boil water advisory in Logan Lake is expected to last until at least tomorrow.
The advisory was put in place on Saturday, after routine testing done was done.
CAO Randy Lambright says further testing today could give officials an idea on a specific cause.
“And it’s a 24-hour incubation period and then we anticipate by noon on Tuesday that we’ll have some direction again from IHA and it’s at that point in time that we’ll be getting information out to the community at large,” Lambright said.
He added about 2,000 people are affected by this boil water advisory, and any number of issues could be to blame.
“The pipes themselves, they are aging. It could have come as a result of maintenance activities in two specific areas where dirt gets in the system, dust, that type of thing,” Lambright said. “It’s really difficult for us to nail that down. All we know is that we had the results come back and IHA directed us to do a boil advisory.”
Residents are urged to let their drinking water come to a rolling boil for at least three minutes.
Crews have been flushing the Logan Lake water system with chlorine since the advisory was put in place on Saturday.
Original – The district of Logan Lake is under a boil water advisory until further notice.
It was put into effect today, June 1.
“Due to maintenance activities and for your safety, the District recommends that you boil your drinking water prior to consumption,” said a release from the District of Logan Lake. “Water should be subject to a rolling boil for at least 3 minutes prior to cooling and consumption.”
An update on the status of this advisory is expected at 12 noon on June 4.
