BC Wildfire personnel have made progress on two small fires burning east of Kamloops.
The first fire, burning west of Sorrento is under control at 0.8 hectares in size.
“That means it has received sufficient suppression action to ensure no further spread, and we are anticipating some cooler temperatures at the end of this week,” said Fire Information Officer Marla Cathrall. “There’s going to be some scattered precipitation throughout the Fire Centre so that definitely helps.”
At this point, the BC Wildfire Service says crews might head to this fire, if needed.
A second spot fire in the Martin Prairie area that broke out yesterday is being held.
“And that classification just changed and we don’t anticipate any further spread,” added Cathrall, saying no crews will be at this fire today, but it is also being investigated.
Both are suspected to be human caused fires.
