Sunday marks the return of the Sunlife Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes at the BC Wildllife Park and this year they’re starting a new campaign.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is launching it’s ‘Access 4 All’ campaign to demand affordable and accessible coverage for everyone living with type one diabetes.
JDRF spokesperson Natalie Backerman, says things most of us take for granted are a full time job for people with the disease. “Before you eat you probably think about what kind of meal you’re going to eat or how it’s going to taste but for people with type one they have to think about a lot more than that.”
She continues “They have to think about how the food that they’re eating is going to effect their entire body. So, people with type one have a lot of complications that come with that and it’s an everyday disease, you’re living with it 24/7/”
Walks nation wide are hoping to raise $5 million dollars.
If you can’t take part in the walk, you can still donate through their website
