A huge search party is going on for a well-known Kamloops man reported missing yesterday.
Lorne Hamer-Jackson was last seen Saturday night, before leaving without telling anyone in his black Chevy Cobalt.
His niece Jaclyn Frilund says between 20 and 30 family members are now involved in the search, with others taking part locally and in places nearby like Merritt, Barriere and several locations in the Shuswap.
“We have a big family here in Kamloops, the Hamer-Jacksons, lots of people who have grown up here know somebody. He’s been involved in the community for a long time, they’ve lived in Kamloops for more than 40 years now. We have a very close, tight-knit family, so when something like this happens it’s nice that everybody’s on board,” Frilund says.
The 57-year-old Hamer-Jackson is described as five-foot-seven and 225 pounds, with a mix of grey and sandy brown hair and with green eyes.
Frilund says when he left on Saturday he didn’t bring his phone or his wallet and had at most only a half-tank of gas.
“Very unlike him to go out when he hasn’t planned it, or to go out without telling anybody anything,” she says.
“We’ve had so many people reaching out asking how they can help. Right now all I would say is that if you’re close to the family or friends, contact us. Mostly though, for anybody though just to keep an eye for that car… We’re thinking that wherever his car is, he can’t be too far from it.”
Kamloops RCMP ask anyone with information on Hamer-Jackson’s whereabouts to contact them right away at 250-828-3000.
