The Kamloops-Thompson School District is already planning ahead for a new school year this fall especially where it concerns Valleyview students.
School Board Chair Kathleen Karpuk is expecting work on the $34.5 million expansion of Valleyview announced in April to begin in the fall.
And Karpuk says students will experience disruption.
“We will be having some construction on sports fields. We will be having construction that will be disrupting parking lots,” she said. “Parking will probably be a bit of a challenge. That is actually one of the things they will probably be working on first is working on the parking lot and getting those rerouted. We may have to move some portables.”
The expansion will add 525 seats to a school already well over capacity. The work, which include a new gym, enhanced parking, and an improved pick up and drop off area, is slated to finish in 2022.
