There has apparently been a rock slide into the Fraser River.

Rancher Tom Hancock says it happened this morning near Big Bar Ferry.

“Well a big rock slide north of the ferry and just south of French Bar Canyon on the west side of the river there. A big rock slide that is causing a big disturbance in the water there. A lot of rock. Possibly the salmon won’t get upstream.”

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has been on scene and is promising to pass on more information soon.

The rock slide is in an area of the Fraser north of Lillooet and west of Clinton.
