A 20-year-old suspect is in police custody after a short search on the Kamloops North Shore this morning.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to the RCMP in the Holt Street area.

“Just before 7 a.m., an officer on patrol saw the suspect who is wanted for Theft and Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order,” said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “When the officer attempted to stop him, he ran away.  Officers set up a perimeter and were able to late him approximately 45 minutes later.

Earlier in the day, police were cautioning about some heavy police presence in the area between Cambridge Court & Holt street, as they tried to locate the suspect.

Police note there was no risk to public safety during the operation.
