A Vernon family is hoping to be reunited with the ashes of the deceased son that was in a necklace stolen from a vehicle.
The silver necklace has a cross with another smaller cross hanging from a diamond encrusted overlay, and it was stolen on June 24 in the 3800 block of 21st avenue in Vernon.
“The family is hoping that someone will recognize the necklace and have it in themselves to come forward and re-unite the family with one of the only pieces they have left of their son,” said Cst. Kelly Brett.
“It is possible the thief does not know that the necklace contains something so important. This is their chance to do something positive and return the item to police.”
People with any information are asked to contact the RCMP in Vernon or contact Crimestoppers. The necklace can also be returned to the City of Vernon Community Safety Unit located at 3010 31st Avenue.
