Unlike the past couple of years, the wildfire season has been relatively quiet and there’s a few reasons for that.
Weather has been a big factor as to why we haven’t seen a lot of wildfire action in our area but as Fire Information Officer for the BC Wildfire Service Erica Berg explains, people seem to be getting the message as well. ” I know that Fire Smart has been very vocal this season in particular with how to be fire smart.”
“They have a new website out, the resources are more accessible to the public.”
Berg says 16 wildfires broke out in the province with 10 being caused by lightning and only 2 fires being blamed on humans.
