The mayors of Kamloops and Kelowna will soon be taking a trip to Saskatchewan together.
Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian says he and Mayor Colin Basran will be touring the RCMP Depot in Regina as well as addressing graduating Mounties.
Christian says while RCMP graduates are assigned to detachments, the visit could still result in future recruitment.
“Later on in your career there is more opportunity to bid for promotion,” he said. “We have between the two of us two fairly big detachments.”
“When you start to take Surrey out of the mix, if that happens, then you are really looking at Burnaby, Richmond, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Prince George as the big detachments in British Columbia now.”
Christian calls the trip a unique experience and a chance to better understand RCMP training.
