The Tournament Capital received some national attention this week as The Amazing Race Canada opened their new season here.
Destination British Columbia has been partnered with the show since it’s inception, showcasing a different part of the province each season and Tourism Kamloops first pitched them four years ago.
We asked Director of Industry Relations & Communications Monica Dickinson if they had to pay anything to get the popular show here. “We did. So there was an investment. The province invests and then on the local level there was an investment as well. So, great return on our investment.”
So how much was the investment? $25,000.
How much came back to the local economy? About $13 million.
Dickinson says now the hope is some of the two million viewers decide to spend part of their vacation in the region.
