BC Hydro is installing more electric vehicle charging stations near Kamloops.
Spokesperson Jen Walker-Larsen says one of those in Cache Creek will be opened on July 23. The others, to open later this year, are in Clinton, 70 Mile House, Blue River and Valemount.
“These will be the first BC Hydro stations (in those communities). Some small communities already have level two chargers which are lower voltage, so they’re not able to charge an electric vehicle as quickly. These fast-charging stations are level three, and they can charge the average electric vehicle battery to 80 per cent in only 30 minutes.
Walker-Larsen says there are 58 EV stations in B.C. operated by BC Hydro, and says by the end of 2019 there were be 85 province wide.
