A major retrofit of municipal hall in Logan Lake is now finished.
Mayor Robin Smith says the finished building now has a purpose-built space for the Wellness, Health and Youth program.
“It is a big deal. They’ve been operating out of what was our only real community hall space, so they’ve been occupying that space for more thn 10 years now. It was just a space they were in temporarily, and that temporarily lasted 10 years.”
And she says the new council chambers modern-day technology that wasn’t there in the past.
“It’s big enough that we can fit a fairly good sized contingency in there. Many times before when we had a bigger event or were expecting a bigger crowd we actually had to move the meeting in what used to be our firehall training room.”
The retrofit project was budgeted at $1.4 million.
