Kamloops RCMP now say Monday’s fatal fire at at a trailer on Grant Road in Westsyde is not believed to be arson.

It’s after an investigation of the scene yesterday by police and Kamloops Fire.

Corporal Jodie Shelkie says the exact cause of the fire, which killed a woman is still under investigation. The BC Coroners Service is also investigating, and the RCMP will continue to assist.

While RCMP did not identify the victim, a Go Fund Me page identified her as Fiona France. Brianne Gair, who started the page, is a friend of France. “I went through losing my father and I know that the cost of a celebration of life or a funeral, or whatever the family decides can be quite a burden to them in devastating time like this. Having  financial hardship due to trying to organize that kind of thing in her memory is really hard.”

Gair says France’s children have always had their mom to support them and she doesn’t believe it’s really hit them yet that she’s gone.
