With a new licensing requirement in place for recruiters hoping to bring in temporary foreign workers, the province is now working to implement part two of the Temporary Foreign Worker Protection Act.
Labour Minster Harry Bains says employers who hire temporary foreign workers will soon get details on how to register themselves.
“We are engaging with employers, the small businesses and the business groups,” he told Radio NL. “We will take their feedback and make sure that the transition is smooth and that there is not a real onerous process for them to register.”
The details are still unclear, and Bains says government understands the last thing businesses want is a complicated process.
“Because employers are busy. Last thing you want is to burden them with more red tape and onerous registration process. So we’re working very very diligently with them so that that process will move very smoothly.”
Bains says that second phase of the Act and the subsequent details will be launched this fall.
