
Update – One person is dead after a motorcycle and a semi collided on the Trans Canada Highway west of Revelstoke.
Cpl. Mike Halskov says the incident is at the Enchanted Forest Frontage Road, 29 km west of Revelstoke.
“Crews are on scene right now and the highway will be closed for a time as we investigate this crash,” he said. “And we ask motorists to monitor Drive BC and to obey the direction of any traffic control personnel at the scene.”
Halskov noted the motorcycle driver was the victim, but police are not sure what caused the collision at this time.
According to Drive BC, there is no detour available, and the highway could reopen around 5:30 p.m.
Original – Another highway closure on the Trans Canada in the Revelstoke area because of a vehicle incident.
The highway is closed in both directions after a vehicle incident at the Enchanted Forest Frontage Road, 29 km west of Revelstoke. It’s believed to be a collision between a motorcycle and a semi-truck, but there’s no word on any injuries.
There are no detours and no estimated time of reopening. Traffic is at a stand still at the moment, and an assessment is in progress.
Further east along the highway, there is a vehicle fire between 11th St N and Highway 95 near Golden. Drivers can expect minor delays in the area.
Last Wednesday, July 17, a dump truck driver was killed in a collision east of Revelstoke. One day later, a semi-trailer jack-knifed in the same area, and the driver and his passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
