
Update – Drive BC says the highway has now reopened, but you can expect delays in the area.
Update – One person was taken to hospital after another crash on the Trans Canada highway, at the intersection of Highway 97B, east of Salmon Arm.
RCMP Traffic Services spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov says the crash happened just before 8 a.m., involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
“The driver of the pickup truck is uninjured,” he told Radio NL. “The motorcyclist has been flown to hospital in a serious condition. His prognosis is not know at this time.”
Halskov says it’s too soon to say what caused the collision.
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the highway between Sicamous and Revelstoke yesterday, while there were two closures on Highway 1 near Tappen on Monday.
According to DriveBC, the westbound lanes were reopened just after 9 a.m., but the eastbound lane is still closed.
The highway will be fully reopened around 12:30 pm.
Original – The Trans-Canada Highway is closed in Salmon Arm heading eastbound after a multi-vehicle crash this morning.
The crash happened at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 97B at about 8 a.m., and the highway was fully shut down for about an hour.
According to DriveBC, the westbound lanes reopened just after 9 a.m., but there’s no estimated time of reopening for the eastbound lanes.
Further details of the crash are not yet known.
This is the fourth closure along Highway 1 through the Shuswap in the past four days; one person was killed yesterday in a crash east of Sicamous involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck.
On Monday, the highway was closed near Tappen twice because of separate crashes.
