
Chase RCMP have laid charges after an operator of the Adams Lake ferry was assaulted by a passenger.
On Friday, police were called to a report of an assault on the cable ferry, located 25 kilometres north of Chase, where a male suspect approached the ferry operator with a knife. According to police, the suspect threw the knife aside before assaulting the operator. The incident happened as passengers were about to get off the ferry.
Thirty-six-year-old Adams Lake man Steven Christopher Long has now been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and driving while disqualified.
Long is being held in custody and will be appearing today in Kamloops provincial court.
