As he asks for Federal help with the forestry crisis, BC’s Forests Minister says he’s not too concerned about the upcoming Federal Election.
On NL Newsday, Doug Donaldson was asked if the October election and the SNC Lavalin scandal could mean the government is a little bit distracted.
“We do have a window of opportunity before the writ is dropped in the Federal Election and that creates a better sense of urgency,” he said. “So that’s an opportunity as well. And government does continue through these times of writ drops.”
Donaldson was speaking after attending the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers Conference, where he he says he was able to speak to some high ranking bureaucrats.
“The fact that the head bureaucrats were there at the meeting that I was at bodes well as well because they are the ones that actually carry out the action regardless of what the attention is that the politicians have.”
Donaldson says he’ll be speaking to Natural Resources Minister Amarjeet Sohi next week to follow up on his request for help.
