It’s the 3rd annual Pride Week in Kamloops, and the President of Kamloops Pride says it’s the biggest one yet.
Sam Numsen says there are 11 events planned this week, including the Pride Parade on August 25, noting Pride has grown exponentially in the city in the three years that it’s been around.
Over 50 different groups and organizations have signed up to take part in this year’s parade.
“The most notable change this year has been the move to Stuart Wood Elementary and St. Paul Street,” he said. “So folks will recognize that location as the Farmer’s market location, so it’s going to be a more dense urban style celebration, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Speaking on the NL Newsday, Numsen says the organization is committed to provide something for everyone in the community.
“We have a design your Pride poster making and art night. We’re doing our window contest again which is always really popular. We have our Glitter on the Runway drag show,” he noted. “New this year, we have our drag brunch and then we have our sort of Pride Party, our dance.”
If you’re looking for more information, Numsen says to head to the Kamloops Pride website.
