A pair of Kamloops women are $2-million richer after matching all six numbers on their BC/49 ticket from the August 17 draw.
Susan Hook and Martha McCallum live together and have been friends for over 50 years.
“I was on my coffee break and decided to check the ticket,” said McCallum, in a release. “I thought ‘what do all the zeros mean? And I went back to work believe it or not.”
According to the BCLC, the pair discovered they were millionaires on the anniversary of Hook’s husband’s passing.
“I am not a drinker but I said ‘I need a glass of wine’ [when we found out], and we cried together,” added Hook. “It is quite something to know that we became millionaires on [the day of my husband’s passing]. I dread that day every year.”
The pair say the lotto win won’t lead to many changes as they still plan to live together. They however want to fulfill lifelong dreams to travel and plan to make their lives “comfortable, but not flashy.”
