The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association wants to see your Blazer pride and help paint the town orange during home games this season.
It’s encouraging people to wear blazer swag or orange clothes and gather downtown prior to puck drop for every home game throughout the course of the season. Administrator Ashleigh Canaday hopes to see this really take off in its inaugural season. “It’s more of a pilot project right now. We’re hoping to get as much interest as we can going forward and then if we get a little bit of momentum then hopefully we can build on that for the next season and the next season and really showcase the Blazers and downtown as the place to go before the game.”
It is aiming to encourage people to gather downtown prior to home games and support local businesses and celebrate your Blazers fandom. “What we’re hoping to do is the corridor that goes down to the pedestrian overpass to Sandman Centre, we’re hoping to put some Blazer flags down there, some downtown Kamloops flags down there, to really show this is a corridor going straight to the hockey arena. We’re hoping we will see a bunch of people walking around with Blazers swag.”
Canaday says they have some interest already and hopes to see even more sign up and order some shirts by the Friday August, 23 deadline. “Have about 10 businesses that have committed to purchasing the shirts and we have a few others that have committed to giving a discount. So we’re hoping to marry those two things together and have a great big hype going forward.”
Canaday says interested businesses can get involved by contacting her at 372-3242 and she can give you the details and as for fans it’s time to get out your Blazer gear out and ready for the season.
The Blazers open the season at home on September 20th against the Spokane Chiefs.
