A region-wide business license for the Kamloops area is expected to be available by next spring.
Business license inspector for the City of Kamloops Dave Jones says when the city sends out business license renewal forms in November, there will be information on the new license.
“It’s going to be called the Thompson-Nicola inter-community business license area. So there will be a number of us; there’ll be Merritt, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Barriere, Chase, Kamloops, Tk’emlups, I think it’s up to 12 communities that are working with us right now,” Jones says.
“So right now I know that Merritt and I believe Barriere have taken reports to their council, so it’s a matter of the rest of us now getting in front of councils and adopting our bylaws, and it looks like that program is going to be moving forward. Which is a good thing for small businesses in our area.”
Jones expects a draft bylaw for the business license to go before Kamloops city council in October.
