Two significant housing projects are moving forward in the Village of Ashcroft.
Mayor Barbara Roden says the two developments will likely add more than 125 units of housing, which would increase the village’s housing supply by about 20 per cent.
“We’re starting to see some plans for a couple of developments, one large and one smaller, both on Government Street in north Ashcroft. Very, very exciting to see that moving ahead. The last housing development we had in Ashcroft was about 25 years ago, with the Villa Frontera 55-plus community, at the end of Railway Avenue,” Roden says.
“Something that we keep hearing about is just a lack of housing, discouraging people from moving here because they can’t find the home that they need. So by introducing more housing stock, getting more built, that’s just going to be a great way to encourage people to move here.”
Roden says the larger project on the former rodeo grounds will have most of those new lots, with at least 62 single-family homes and at least 60 town home units.
