There’s going to be at least one new group participating in this Sunday’s Kamloops Pride Parade.
2019 marks the first time School District 73 will march in the parade.
Board chair Kathleen Karpuk told the NL Morning News why it’s so important for the board to be involved in the Pride parade. “The reason that we’re doing that is because we want to demonstrate to all students that they are accepted and welcomed in our schools.”
“We need to let students know that no matter who they are of where they come from that we are fully welcoming and that they’re having a safe and supportive environment within our schools.”
Karpuk added there was no opposition from other members saying the board voted unanimously to participate in the pride parade this year.
