The province wants the feds to ban a controversial form of psycho therapy but if the Green party has their way, the Horgan government will do it themselves.
Conversion therapy or trying to change a persons sexual identity, has been a lightning rod of controversy for some time now.
While the province thinks it’s a problem for the federal government, the Greens want the NDP to do away with it in BC.
While speaking on the NL Morning News, Saanich North MLA Adam Olson, said why it’s so important to them to move on the issue right now. “Make sure that people are protected and make sure that people have an opportunity to discover themselves and their identities and it’s certainly an issue that I know our leader Andrew Weaver is passionate about and certainly our membership is passionate about.”
Olsen went on to say, “We’ll continue to advance it and continue to encourage the provincial government to not view this as just a federal issue alone, that there are practices that are being billed under other codes and things that need to be addressed in this province and that’s the challenge that we’ve put in front of the government and we hope that they pick it up and take if forward.”
